Dear readers of sport&beauty. Today we’re getting on a plane to fly to one of our favorite destinations, Russia, where we will meet one of the best Russian models of the moment. Before unveiling her name, I’ll give you some hints so you can make an educated guess. She’s Ralph Lauren’s muse and has starred in ad campaigns for Balenciaga, Calvin Klein, Calvin Klein jeans, ICB, L'Oreal, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, and Victoria's Secret. Besides, she has graced the covers of the world’s best fashion magazines such as Elle, Glamour, Harper’s Bazaar, and W. I’m sure you already know who she is. Today’s post is dedicated to the gorgeous Russian model Valentina Zelyaeva. Here you are Valentina Zelyaeva. To tell the truth, I like her very much.
Valentina Zelyaeva started in the fashion world aged seventeen when a friend and her friend’s mother took her to a model agency. When she was eighteen, she traveled to Japan although she made her debut in New York in September 2003 walking for Cynthia Steffe’s Spring fashion collection. In 2004 Valentina Zelyaeva starred for Cole Haan’s ad campaign and Neiman Marcus catalogue and graced the cover of Harpers&Queen (February) and Glamour Italy (May). Valentina started 2005 signing a contract with Ralph Lauren. At the beginning of the year, the Russian model appeared in an ad campaign for Calvin Klein Jeans, opened Ralph Lauren’s Fall fashion show in New York in February and appeared in an editorial for Vogue Italy photographed by Patrick Demarcheiller. In March, Valentina Zelyaeva appeared in an editorial for Vogue UK and in April Vanity Fair included her in an article titled “Slavs of Fashion, the new beauties” together with other Eastern European models. In June and July 2005 Valentina appeared in two editorials for Harper’s Bazaar and in August she graced the cover of Elle Germany. In September the Russian stunner opened Ralph Lauren’s 2006 Spring fashion show in New York and in October she walked in Paris for Balenciaga, Chanel, Christian Dior, and Hermès. Finally, in December, she graced the cover of Elle Germany and Harper’s Bazaar United Kingdom. What a busy year she had!!!!!
Let’s talk about 2006. In 2006 Valentina extended her contract with Ralph Lauren and in February opened again Ralph Lauren’s Fall fashion show in New York. In April, the Russian model graced the covers of Vogue China and Spain and appeared in the Vogue France supplement. Finally in September she traveled again to New York to open Ralph Lauren’s 2007 Fall fashion show. Already in 2007, she appeared again in the cover of Vogue Russia (January) and in February she walked for Valentino being interviewed in the backstage for Fashion TV. In February, Valentina opened for the fifth successive time Ralph Lauren’s Spring fashion show in New York. The Russian model appeared in the cover of the issue of June of Vogue Spain and, again in New York, opened the fashion show commemorative of Ralph Lauren’s 40th anniversary. Finally, Valentina appeared in an editorial of W magazine in October and in the covers of Elle France in November and Vogue Russia in December. As usual, our friend Valentina started 2008 opening in New York the Ralph Lauren’s Fall fashion show. In April, Valentina appeared in an editorial of Vogue Spain photographed by Helena Christensen and, also in April, she was included on the Forbes list of the world’s highest paid models with the number thirteen with an approximate income of $2.3 million in 2007. In June 2008 Valentina made it back to the cover of Vogue Spain and in September Vogue Russia considered her to be a new top model. Finally and also in September, she opened in New York the Ralph Lauren’s Spring fashion show for the next season. In February 2009, Valentina Zelyaeva walked for Ralph Lauren and Givenchy’s Fall fashion shows in New York and Paris. In September of the same year, the Russian model appeared in Elle and walked again in New York for Ralph Lauren’s Spring fashion show. Finally in 2010, Valentina Zelyaeva extended her contract with Ralph Lauren once again and in February, as usual, she opened the Ralph Lauren’s Fall fashion show. In March 2010 the Russian model appeared in an editorial for Vogue Spain and in June was photographed by Regan Cameron for Allure magazine.
